NASA Shares Footage Of First Moon Walk On Anniversary

Man's first steps onto the moon happened 49 years ago today  when Apollo 11 astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first men to walk on the moon and made history.

To this day, that walk remains one of the greatest achievements that mankind has ever committed. It seemed impossible when President John F Kennedy announced that man would walk on the moon before the decade was out.

Turns out it wasn't so impossible.

Below are some pictures from that historic walk. The moon walk was before my time but a couple of summers ago, I got a chance to visit the Houston Space Center and see some of these pictures and hear some of the recordings from the flight.

As a lover of science fiction, this is one of those events that sparks the imagination.

Where were you when man walked on the moon that day in 1969?
