The Harrisonburg Police Department and other partnering agencies are continuing their search for 12-year-old Angie Carolina Rodriguez Rubio and her grandmother, Elizabeth Rodriguez Rubio.
An AMBER Alert was initiated for Angie on August 7 as it is believed that she is in extreme danger. Her grandmother was also entered into a nationwide system as a missing person.
They were both reported missing on the morning of August 7 when they did not a arrive to a residence in Maryland. They were to be transported there by Hareton Jamie Rodriguez Sariol.
At around 5 p.m. the same day, Sariol was arrested in Lakawanna, PA, while driving a tractor and trailer. He is still in police custody and is being held there until his extradition to Harrisonburg.
Police said it was determined that Sariol was seen with the two females on, August 5 around 1:30 p.m. in the shopping center located at 2347 South Main Street.
The vehicle was seen around 2:30 p.m. in the shopping center located at 259 Burgess Road.
While in Harrisonburg, they were traveling in Sariol’s 2001 red, two-door Honda Civic.
According to police, on August 6 around 3:00 a.m., a passerby reported a vehicle fire on I-66, near mile marker two. Sariol’s red vehicle was fully engulfed in flames and has since been recovered by HPD and processed as evidence.
