A family is in shock after losing two loved ones within hours on Sunday, one at a home in Nelson County, the other in a shootout with an Amherst County deputy.
The family of Alexia Lockett, 28, said she was killed by her cousin, Anthony Hutchinson, 40, just hours before he died in a gunfire exchange with Amherst County deputies.
"We got a message saying she was gone. I was like, 'Where'd she go?'" said Victoria Davis, Alexia Lockett's cousin.
Family members said they never could have imagined what happened on Avon Road in Afton just after 11 a.m. on Sunday.
